Why Anime Adventures shut down

Anime Adventures went private around 21–22 December 2023 during an alleged DMCA dispute that reporters tied to Gamefam and Crunchyroll. Gomu never confirmed that cause. The game returned on 25 December 2024.

I treated every sentence on this page as one of three grades: a Roblox or Gomu artifact I could open, a news report that itself says "alleged," or a creator claim. PocketTactics wrote that the December 2023 takedown was alleged, that there was no proof in the article, and that the developers had not confirmed it. I am not upgrading that to a fact.

What happened, in order

21–22 December 2023: Anime Adventures, Anime Fighting Simulator X, and Anime Fighting Simulator switched to private or under review on the same days. PocketTactics attributed that to a DMCA notice connected with a Gamefam and Crunchyroll deal, and labeled the claim alleged.

25 September 2024: Gomu posted on the official Discord for the first time in about 18 months. The message said the game had not been abandoned and that a plan to keep Anime Adventures was in progress. The same message announced TenSura: Isekai Adventures, a licensed Tensura game using Roblox License Manager with Kodansha. It also said a DMCA had been sent against Re:Adventures, a separate remake. That is not the same project as today's Re://Adventures by SlowBlox.

21 November 2024: Gomu posted a teaser titled ??? with the line that it was not the end. Coverage the next day said a return was coming. 25 December 2024: Update 19, the Winter Event / Frozen Abyss, is the community return date. Updates continued in 2025 (19.5 on 1 February, Update 20 on 9 March, 20.4.1 in April).

Is Anime Adventures back right now?

The Fandom update log has a one-year gap between December 2023 and December 2024. That supports a hiatus. It does not, by itself, prove a legal cause. On 3 November 2026 the legacy listing was renamed for Update 21, the Roblox games API returned about 79,000 players, and its public server list showed full servers of 24 to 27 players. The game is back and joinable. Gomu's separate RETURN listing still had 1 player and had not been updated since 4 October 2026.
